Everything has a story… Even a blog… This is the story of this blog.
My friends and I were driving back from a hike. I was on a roll with my criticism of the shidduch process; and let’s be real here, there is a major shidduch crisis in general, much of which stems from an outdated process of how the shidduch dating is done, which is a long overdue for a major haul, at least IMHO.
From the topic of criticizing the shidduch process, I hopped on the topic of what I am looking for, and I admitted that I was getting a bit wee tired of explaining myself to different shadchans, who tend to want to re-wire me anyway. I don’t think so, a bit too late for that at this point in my life. And what is worse, I dislike sounding like a broken record. After having to repeat myself again and again to shadchans, I am sounding like a broken record, and it is really boring.
Most of the times I am left feeling that I am not understood. I find that a lot of my time being wasted because I am not as involved as I would like to be, nor do I have as much control as I would like over the entire process. No, I am not a control freak, I simply have a very good awareness of myself, what works for me and what doesn’t. I also resent being approached with suggestions that are completely inappropriate for all parties involved, which happens oh so very often in traditional Jewish circles.
With all these thoughts in mind it finally hit me, I should blog! I should blog about who I am, what I am looking for, make myself and my thoughts available to others, and hope that there will be a guy who comes across my blog, reads it, connects with me, and…. and we live happily forever after, or as close as to that ideal we can both get. Because you know… you comes home hungry, I am in a bad mood, we end up having a furka moment, and ops… there the reality hits us.
I promptly announced my decision to everyone in the car, talked more about it the next day with my family, and friends; and being someone who follows through with what she talks about… Tada… here is the blog!
